Paul Gawkowski | World-Class Tramway Systems

This July’s meeting was presented by Paul Gawkowski, director of the NY Division. Paul’s presentation featured slides of the world-class tramway systems in Budapest, Hungary; Prague, Czech Republic; and Vienna, Austria. He also showed slides from side trips he made to the smaller systems in Brno (Czech Republic) and Debrecen (Hungary). Paul then showed slides of three of the United States’ busiest and most successful tourist railroads: the Maine Eastern Railroad, along the coast of Maine, the Conway Scenic Railroad though Crawford Notch in New Hampshire, and the Grand Canyon Railway to the Grand Canyon. He concluded his presentation with slides of NJ Transit’s Meadowlands Maintenance Complex (MMC) from the Division’s very successful June 24 excursion.
