August 2007The August Division meeting featured a PowerPoint presentation on the Second Avenue Subway (SAS) by Glenn S. Lunden, Manager, Rail Systems Planning of MTA New York City Transit. All four phases of construction were discussed, as were allowances being made for possible future extensions to the Bronx, Upper West Side and Brooklyn. At this meeting we received an update on current construction at 95th Street and how the tunnel boring machine (TBM, right) will be used to avoid disrupting one of New York’s busiest neighborhoods. Mr. Lunden finished his presentation with a brief question and answer period.
The Community Board 8 presentation, made in July 2006, is similar in content and uses many of the same visuals as Mr. London’s August 2007 PowerPoint.
