Part two in our three part series, “Centennial Celebration of the Opening of the First Subway”. Transit photographer Eric Oszustowicz presented a slide program showcasing the subway cars that New Yorkers rode over the last 100 years. The program was a fully narrated pictorial history of each class of car, showing where and when they operated and how their appearance changed over the years. The original steel subway cars operated into the 1950s. The period of their replacement to the present was the focus of this program. Besides the photography of the presenter, the photography of Douglas Grotjahn and others was also shown.
