The NY Division of the ERA is pleased to announce the sixth annual chartered bus trip to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail System on Saturday, January 14, 2006. Our main focus will be on the new construction presently underway at the north end of the current operating trackage. Although public operation to Bergenline Avenue is not expected until later in January at the earliest, we are optimistic that arrangements can be made for our group to ride a non-revenue car through the tunnel to Bergenline Avenue and the Tonnelle Avenue loop. This, alone, will be worth the price of the trip! There will be other photo opportunities along currently operating trackage. Following lunch on your own, our group will view the current status of the above-ground construction involving the extension of the Newark City Subway to the Broad Street Railroad Station, projected to open in 2006. You will also have the option of riding the Newark City Subway between Grove Street and Newark Penn Station.
Our chartered Lakeland bus will depart from Gate #402 of the Port Authority Bus Terminal (note this new departure point!). The bus will leave promptly at 8:30 AM from this point (Stop #1). There will be an additional pickup point at the Hoboken Terminal, at 9:00 AM, along the southerly curb at the bus terminal and bus turnaround point adjacent to the train terminal (Stop #2). Please indicate below at which stop you will be boarding the bus. It is expected that the bus will return to Hoboken and New York before dinner time.
Warm up your winter and join us for this very special trip to the newest electric light rail system in the New York metropolitan region. The reasonable ticket price of $25 includes the trip by charter bus and a ride on the Hudson-Bergen light rail line (Newark City Subway fare and lunch will be optional at your expense). For further updates and information, please call 718-784-3643 evenings. This trip and tour operates rain or shine.
