The NY Division of the ERA is pleased to announce a trip on NJ Transit’s Newark Light Rail Line, featuring rides on the Newark City Subway line between Newark Penn Station and Grove Street and the new service between Newark Penn Station and Newark Broad Street Station, on Saturday, November 4, 2006. The initial ride between Penn Station and Grove Street will be followed by a tour of the Grove Street Shop. To maximize your benefits from this tour, we will break into groups no larger than about 10-15 for individual tours. Following the Shop tours, we plan to have the group ride back to Penn Station to board the car for Broad Street, making a few stops along the way for photo opportunities.
All attendees will meet at Newark Penn Station no later than 10:00 AM Follow signs to the Newark Light Rail/Newark City Subway line and meet at the first set of ticket vending machines prior to the stairways to the platforms. Newark Penn Station can be most easily reached by PATH, NJ Transit rail and various bus lines. Driving there is possible, but the availability of parking is unknown. With the potential need for security clearance for all attendees, please make certain to have a photo ID in your possession.
It is expected that the tour and riding the lines will last approximately three hours, or more. We do not plan to break for lunch, so you should plan on having lunch on your own (or in ad hoc groups) after the formal trip is over.
Join us for a very special visit to this unique line, especially the extension to Broad Street Station, which opened in July, and a tour of the Grove Street Shop. The ticket price for the line rides and tour is only $15. This will include two one-way tickets on the line, each good for at least 60 minutes. For further updates and information, please call 718-784-3643 evenings. This visit and tour operates rain or shine.
