Catskill Rail & Museum Trip
Saturday, August 2, 2014
The ERA, with co-sponsorship by the NY Railroad Enthusiasts, is pleased to announce a day trip to see the historic transportation institutions of the Catskills and Hudson Valley.
Join us and unwind aboard the scenic Delaware & Ulster Railroad for a leisurely-paced excursion from Arkville, N.Y. to Roxbury, N.Y. and back, offering some of the country’s most magnificent scenery. The tracks are framed by the gorgeous Catskill Mountains for much of the 11-mile trip, creating a magnificent backdrop. The historic Arkville rail station is little changed since the days when it served as busy hub for local rail commerce. On the other end of the line, the former rail depot in Roxbury is one of the area’s architectural classics.
Next we’ll travel by bus to nearby Kingston, N.Y., 44 miles from Arkville. Lunch will be available at a variety of restaurants and diners in the downtown Kingston area, a few minutes from the Trolley Museum of New York. After lunch concludes, we will head over to the museum, as a group, to view their subway and rapid transit displays. In addition, they have a 1.5-mile track from downtown Kingston to picnic grounds on the shore of the Hudson River. After our ride on their trolley, we will head back to NYC.
Our chartered Coach Tours bus will leave promptly at 8:00 AM from the east side of 8th Avenue and 41st Street, across the street from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. It is expected that the bus will return before 7:30 PM, so there will be no dinner stop.
Ticket Price: $90 Per Person
The ticket price for the chartered bus, railroad ride and trolley museum visit is $90. Time has been allocated for you to purchase lunch in Kingston at your own expense.
Please book your tickets ASAP! This tour will sell out fast. We will include the first 35 people who sign up. Any reservations beyond 35 will be placed on a waiting list. For further information, please contact Robert Colorafi.
