The ERA is pleased to announce our first day trip of 2015. On March 15, we will take a guided tour of the newly-modernized New Haven Rail Yard and visit the Shore Line Trolley Museum. This long-awaited trip will give us an unprecedented glimpse into one of Metro-North’s finest facilities.
We will start the day by taking a chartered bus from the NYC Port Authority to the New Haven Rail Yard. Although the rail yard has been servicing trains since the mid-1800s, it is currently nearing completion of a billion-dollar modernization project to service Metro-North’s new fleet of Kawasaki M8 rolling stock.
Following that, we will have ample time for a lunch break in New Haven’s beautiful downtown near New Haven Green, where a variety of restaurants and food choices are available. After lunch concludes, we will bus to The Shore Line Trolley Museum in East Haven. This museum is home to the oldest continuously running suburban trolley line in the U.S. and they take special pride in their large collection of NYC-area trolleys and rapid transit vehicles.
Our chartered Coach Tours bus will leave promptly at 8:00 AM from the east side of 8th Avenue, just south of West 41st Street, across the street from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. We will also make one pickup at Pelham Bay Parkway 6 Subway Station at approximately 8:30 AM It is expected that the bus will return before 7 PM, so there will be no dinner stop.
Ticket Price: $69 Per Person
The ticket price for the chartered bus, shop tour and museum visit is $69. Lunch is not included in this special price, but time has been allocated for you to purchase a meal in New Haven.
