ERA membership will give you access to the following:
All ERA members may come to our monthly meetings to see photo and movie presentations by well-known transit writers and photographers. The meetings take place on the third Friday of each month at The Roosevelt Hotel adjacent to Grand Central Terminal.
The ERA is famous for its exciting trips and events. In 2017 alone we have conducted our annual Grand Central Terminal Tour, a Croton-Harmon Shop Tour, a Connecticut Day Trip, a 207th Street Shop Tour, and the Pittsburgh Weekend.
All ERA members are invited to attend our annual conventions, held each year in a North American city with electric rail operations. Conventions in recent years have been held in Houston/Dallas, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Denver/Salt Lake, Boston, Chicago, Portland, Oregon and Washington, D.C. The 2017 ERA Convention took place in Atlanta and New Orleans.
Every even year, the ERA conducts a multi-week tour of urban, rural and interurban traction systems in a foreign country. Previous trips have been conducted to Japan, Italy, Romania, Scandinavia, Poland and Spain. The 2018 international tour will be held in Southern Germany.
All ERA members receive monthly issues of The Bulletin. Each issue consists primarily of news about New York-area transit, with additional reporting devoted to national and international systems.
All ERA members receive an annual issue of Headlights, America’s premier journal dedicated to light rail transit, subways, interurbans, electric railroads and other forms of electric transportation around the world. Each full color, ad-free issue is packed with in-depth coverage contributed by leading writers and photographers in the transit field.
