Andrew Grahl will be the presenter of our December meeting. Andrew has a wonderful slideshow planned covering the first day of streetcar operations for Milwaukee and Charlotte’s Blue Line, plus Boston, Chicago, Montreal, New Orleans and Toronto updates, a visit to the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec, news items from the NYC-area, and historical Kodachromes from the 1950s. Preceding our November show — in the same room — the 2018 Annual Membership Meeting of the Electric Railroaders Association, Inc. will start promptly at 7:15 PM. All ERA members are encouraged to attend. Gary’s presentation will follow the Annual Membership Meeting.

The presenter of our September meeting will be John Pappas. John will salute the Summer of 1964 with images and movies of New York City rail systems, including New York Central and New Haven commuter service, the LIRR at Jamaica, the Staten Island Rapid Transit, including the long-gone surface crossing in New Dorp, and a bit of the subway system.
For 2018, the Electric Railroaders Association returns to the San Francisco Bay Area for its four-day convention over the Labor Day weekend. It was 2004 when we last held our convention here and a lot has changed. The convention will feature streetcar charters, shop tours, a ride on the new Sonoma-Marin (SMART) and eBART diesel commuter rail lines, provision for a ferry ride, two museums, and just the right amount of time on your own with a pre-loaded Clipper Card.
ERA board member Sandy Campbell, our graphics expert, has created a logo for the San Francisco Convention. We are leaving it up to individual members as to whether they want to have it printed on T-shirts like the one here. Sandy will be happy to supply you with more information on how you can have this done.

Join the ERA as we kick off this summer with a day trip to two fantastic rail museums in Connecticut, the Danbury Railway Museum and the Connecticut Trolley Museum. Both have diverse collections and are sure to be a treat for anyone who is a fan of electric traction.
The presenter of our June meeting will be Andrew Ludasi. His show will feature low-light and nighttime photography, lots of museums (five in Japan!) and other points of interest. Don’t miss our last meeting before summer!
Join us this May as Jeff Erlitz presents our monthly slideshow, a survey of former East German tram systems less that a year after the fall of the Berlin Wall, in July 1990. This 35mm slide presentation will include scenes in Dessau, Dresden, East Berlin, Gera, Gotha, Halberstadt, Jena, Leipzig, Nordhausen and Plauen. Be there!
The ERA’s 14th biennial international tour will cover many major and provincial cities in Germany in an extensive 20-day program. We plan on chartering historic equipment (where available), visiting depots and railway museums, utilizing service trams, metros and interurbans, and experiencing escorted sightseeing as we make day excursions from our three base cities. We will stay seven nights in Karlsruhe, six nights in Freiburg and six nights in Munich, all in four-star hotels.
Join us this April as Ron Yee presents a tour of the railways, metros and trams of Italy. Ron visited Italy during late September of 2014 and 2017 and captured some classic rail scenes around the country including Turin, Milan, Florence, Mestre and Rome. Be there!
The presenter of our March meeting will be Subutay Musluoglu, reflecting on his recent travels to France in this, his first ERA presentation. Highlights of Subutay’s show will include visits to Paris, Strasbourg, Mulhouse and Normandy, as well as assorted scenes around New York City. Join us for a very interesting show!
Eric Oszustowicz will be the presenter of our February meeting. Eric’s slideshow will encompass a diverse group of subjects, both local and international, from the New York Subway to rail systems in Poland and Ukraine. Please join us for an interesting evening!
MNYBA welcomes fellow ERA members on a full-day trip to the famous Amherst Railway Society’s Railroad Hobby Show in West Springfield, Mass. This annual model railroading event spans four buildings of railroad and transportation vendors, displays and public information. Try not to miss this one!
