Grand Opening Celebration for TriMet’s MAX Orange Line in Portland and Milwaukie, Oregon
Legendary transit photographer Jack May will be the presenter at our first meeting of 2016. Jack has planned for us a whirlwind visual tour of Morocco, Spain, Portland, Milwaukee and eastern Germany.
Jack will continue his survey of North Africa with his trip to Morocco last spring. Jack traveled much of the country by rail and visited the streetcar systems in Rabat and Casablanca. At the end of his Morocco visit Jack took the ferry from Tangiers across the Strait of Gibraltar to Spain where he surveyed Seville, Granada, Malaga, Murcia, Alicante and Valencia, several of the cities that are included in the ERA’s upcoming May 2016 tour. Consider this a preview of what tour participants will be enjoying this spring.
Jack’s slideshow will proceed with views of Portland, Oregon’s most recent extensions to both its streetcar and light rail operations over the new Tilikum Crossing bridge and beyond to the suburb of Milwaukie, Oregon (not Milwaukee, Wisconsin) which opened on September 12, 2015. The evening’s entertainment will conclude with slides of the tramways in a half-dozen cities in the eastern part of Germany.
