For our December presentation Marc Glucksman (ERA #6077) will share with us both digital pictures and scanned slides from his 30 years as a railfan. His show will feature Philadelphia, Chicago, Seattle, Portland and St. Louis, as well as a few international destinations and some unusual views of the New York City area.
It’s time again for the traditional NYRRE Holiday Trip, which is being co-sponsored in 2011 by the N.Y. Division and the New York Railroad Enthusiasts. This year we’ll return to a favorite spot of ours, Rod’s Restaurant, in Convent Station, N.J., and the Whippany Railway Museum.
Our November show will be presented by Program Chairman Andrew Grahl. Andrew’s slideshow will cover many different topics, including new commuter rail systems in Austin and Minneapolis, the first week of the TIDE in Norfolk, the recent ERA convention in Chicago, and more.
The N.Y. Division is pleased to announce a tour of the Westchester Yard in the Bronx on the #6 Pelham Line. Also known as the Pelham Yard, this MTA New York City Transit facility is home to the #6 trains as well as maintenance of way diesel trains for both the A Division and B Division.
The annual membership meeting of the ERA will start promptly at 7:30 PM on Saturday, October 29 at the Seafarers’ & International House, 123 East 15th Street, in New York City. Following the meeting, Juergen and Barbara Senst (left, at the 2010 meeting) will present digital slides of their 2010 journey to North Korea. This is a most unusual program not to be missed!
October’s entertainment will be a slide presentation of public transportation in France by Ray Berger, second vice president of the national ERA. It is hoped that everyone will make a special effort not to miss this show.
The N.Y. Division is pleased to announce a Fall Saturday excursion to several SEPTA subway facilities in the Philadelphia area. We are planning stops at the Fern Rock Shops at the north end of the Broad Street line and the 69th Street Shops at the west end of the Market-Frankford line.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Chicago for the 2011 ERA Convention. The Chicago Marriott O’Hare served as our convention headquarters. We conducted a South Shore Line and shop tour, visited the Illinois Railway Museum, paid a visit the East Troy Electric Railroad Museum and more!
