The March meeting’s entertainment was a presentation by Bill Armstrong (ERA #1510), who attended his first Division meeting 56 years ago, of vintage slides of transit operations in New York and nearby locales. He showed the vanished Manhattan, Bronx and Brooklyn elevated railways, subway lines using first generation steel equipment, trolley cars in Brooklyn from Park Row to Coney Island, and the bright red and yellow street cars of the Third Avenue Railway System in Manhattan, The Bronx and lower Westchester County. A few views of the Staten Island Rapid Transit, the Queensboro Bridge Railway and some other golden oldies rounded out the show.
