Our December program will be presented by Eric Oszustowicz. His slide program will focus on the French Riviera and western Switzerland with views of current events in the New York area interspersed. A brief look at public transport on various Caribbean islands and along the Amazon River in Brazil is also on the agenda. An update of railroading in the western United States will also be included.
The main portion of the program will include October 2008 views of the recently opened (and extremely photogenic) light rail system in Nice, France and the long established trolley systems in Geneva, Basel and Bern, Switzerland. Commuter and intercity rail in all four cities will be shown in addition to views in Monaco and Cannes. The trolleycoach systems in Geneva and Bern will also be covered in addition to other surface transport in all of the above venues.
The New York portion of the program will include a photographic chronology of the introduction of the new R160 subway cars and a brief look at the new PATH PA-5 cars.
As you can see, the subject matter is diverse and unusual enough to appeal to anyone interested in public transit. Please join us for an interesting evening.
