The February program will be presented by Eric Oszustowicz. His program will be comprised of high-definition videos and still images.
A feature of this presentation will be scanned images taken by Eric during early to mid-1984 of the Erie Lackawanna MU’s. At the age of 17, Eric started taking photographs, just in time to catch the final six months of operation of these classic commuter cars. 2024 marked the 40th Anniversary of their last operation. Eric has selected about 50 of his favorite images that he produced, but the presentation will start with the following:
The presentation will begin with videos and still photography taken during 2024 in the New York City area. Then it is on to spectacular views of the freight and passenger trains traversing the Canadian Rockies. Views of Amtrak’s Cascade trains in the state of Washington will be included in addition to commuter, light rail and trolley bus views in the Seattle and Vancouver areas. Many of these videos were taken by Eric’s wife, Mary.
Current events will include videos taken by Mary during a trip to Wroclaw, Poland during January 2025.
Eric took videos of the Canadian Pacific’s steam train operating between Moose Jaw, SK and Minot, ND during April of 2024. This train, which traveled from Calgary to Mexico City and back last year, was led by the Empress, aka steam engine 2816.
After the Erie Lackawanna section mentioned above, we will see some still images and a few videos of behind the scenes operations of the New York subway system.
One will want to stay for the end of the presentation. Eric will show some of his vintage photographs of the New York City subway system taken during the 1980s. If time permits, some views taken in the Boston area from 1985-1987 will be shown.
Eric’s presentations typically run three to four hours, so get a comfortable chair and enjoy the show.
