Newark Light Rail Trip and Shop Tour

Saturday, October 27, 2018

Join us for a special inside look at the Newark Light Rail System

The ERA is pleased to announce a ride on NJ Transit’s Newark Light Rail Lines and a tour of the Grove Street Maintenance Shop, our first since 2011 (photos from that trip featured here). This trip will feature a ride on the old Newark City Subway line between Newark Penn Station and Grove Street and the extension between Newark Penn Station and Newark Broad Street Station. The initial ride between Penn Station and Grove Street will be followed by a guided tour of the Grove Street Shop. Following the tour, we plan to ride back to Newark Penn Station, eventually heading to the Broad Street terminal at Riverfront Stadium.

Schedule

All attendees will meet at Newark Penn Station no later than 10:00 AM. Follow signs to the Newark Light Rail/Newark City Subway line and meet at the first set of ticket vending machines prior to the platform stairways. Newark Penn Station can be most easily reached by PATH, NJ Transit rail and various bus lines.

It is expected that our visit will be over by 2 PM. We recommend planning your lunch ahead of time. Please wear sturdy shoes — sneakers and open shoes will not be allowed in this active work environment.

Ticket Price: $25 Per Person

Price include all tickets for the group ride and a return back to Newark Penn Station. Note that the shop is an active facility and the tour may be canceled or postponed for any reason. Please plan accordingly.

Order Deadline: September 21

Book your tickets ASAP! Orders are due by September 21. Orders received after this date will not be accepted. For further information, please use the ERA Contact page or call Michael Glikin at 917-714-7087. This visit will operate rain or shine.
