Railroad Hobby Show

Saturday, January 25, 2020

The Metropolitan New York Bus Association (MNYBA) welcomes fellow ERA members on a special adventure, using a Coach Tours bus, to the famous Amherst Railway Society’s Railroad Hobby Show at the Eastern States Exposition Fairgrounds in West Springfield, Mass. This annual model railroading event spans four buildings and 300,000 square feet of railroad and transportation vendors, displays and public information. Lots of transportation publications, photos, slides, models and just about everything rail-related can be found here, and there are plenty of child-friendly exhibits.

Please note the early starting time from NYC. It is necessary to leave early to have enough time to enjoy the show. We will make a rest stop enroute to Springfield where you can pick up a quick breakfast (cost not included) to eat on the bus.

We plan to arrive at the show shortly after it opens at 9:00 AM and depart at 3:30 PM, which should give everyone a chance to explore the entire show. Lunch is available for purchase on site (cost not included). Unlike MNYBA’s regular trips, there won’t be many opportunities to photograph buses, though there will be several charter buses parked at the show which you might want to shoot.

We will make a group dinner stop at Outback Steakhouse in North Haven, Conn. (cost not included). We plan to return to NYC at a very reasonable hour. Come and join us for a nice winter day out!

Schedule

Participants may depart from either Manhattan or Pelham Bay Park. You will need to mark your desired boarding stop on the order form. Return time in Pelham Bay Park and Manhattan will be some time after 6 PM, depending on how long dinner takes.

Manhattan | 6:00 AM Stop #1 meets on 8th Avenue between 40th and 41st Streets, in front of the New York Times building. We will be leaving at 6:00 sharp!

Pelham Bay Park | 6:20 AM Stop #2 meets at the Q50 stop along Bruckner Boulevard South. We will be leaving at 6:20 sharp!

Ticket Price: $69 Per Person

The ticket price of $69 per person includes the bus fare and admission to the show. Meals are not included. MNYBA trips usually run close to capacity, so register early to avoid disappointment. No tickets will be sent. We go rain or shine. For more information, write [email protected]
