Our March slideshow will be presented by Paul Gawkowski. We will visit the new Oceanside-Escondido Sprinter diesel MU light rail commuter line in California. We’ll then say farewell to the New York area’s last operating Alcos on the Division’s recent SIR fan trip, followed by a ride to Atlantic City on the new ACES, the Atlantic City Express.
Then it’s off Scandinavia on the ERA’s tour of the railroads, tramways and subways of Denmark, Sweden and Norway. We’ll visit the Danish National Tram museum, Gothenburg, the birthplace of light rail, the large tram and subway networks in Oslo and Stockholm, take a ride on the northernmost tram line in the world in Trondheim, and visit the small city tramway in Norrkopping, Sweden. We’ll also take one of the world’s most scenic rail journeys from Oslo to Bergen over the top of Norway including a trip on the Flamm-Myrdal, the world’s steepest adhesion railway, and a boat ride through Norway’s scenic fjords.
