Phillipsburg & New Hope

Saturday, July 16, 2005

The N.Y. Division of the ERA is pleased to announce a summer bus trip to two nearby vintage train excursion sites on Saturday, July 16, 2005. Our first stop will be in in Phillipsburg, N.J., where the New York Susquehanna & Western T. & H.S. will be running a vintage train, perhaps using double-decker “River Liners” along the Belvidere and Delaware River Railway (“Bel-Del”). Our group will have a reservation on the first train out of Phillipsburg that morning, the 11:00 AM departure, and your ticket is included in the price of the trip. Following that trip, we will have lunch in Phillipsburg (on your own) and the group that is trying to establish a transportation museum at Phillipsburg will show us two vintage buses and trolley artifacts that have been preserved for the future museum. You will also see in person the progress on the restoration of former Public Service trolley car #2651. After the Phillipsburg stop, we will continue to New Hope, Pa., where you will have a chance, at your option, to visit the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad. Any ride on this train will NOT be included in the trip price and will be optional on your part, at your own expense. FYI, the cost of a ride in New Hope will be $11 per person, although if 15 or more of you opt to take the ride, we will attempt to get you the group rate of $9.90 per person.

Our chartered bus will leave promptly at 8:30 AM from the public city bus stop for the M16 on 8th Avenue, just north of West 40th Street, across the street from the Port Authority Bus Terminal (Stop #1). There will be an additional pickup point in Weehawken, N.J., at 8:40 AM, along the south side of 19th Street, in front of the Exxon station between Park and Willow Avenues (Stop #2). Please indicate below at which stop you will be boarding the bus. It is expected that the bus will return to Weehawken and New York before dinner time.

Ticket Price: $50 Per Person

Please join us for a special trip to two sites that are railfans’ delights. The ticket price of $50 includes your charter bus transportation and the train ride in Phillipsburg. The train ride in New Hope is not included. For further updates and information, please call 718-784-3643 evenings. This trip operates rain or shine.
