The ERA is proud to announce its 11th international tour. Tramways and More in Italy will cover a large part of Northern and Southern Italy and will combine a survey of many historic and modern tram and interurban operations with time for general sightseeing in some of the worlds’ most beautiful and historic places. Tram, interurban, light rail and metro systems will be explored on our tour.

During 15 days of travel we will cover many cities. The tour will begin in Torino (Turin) on Thursday, May 10 with a welcome dinner. The last excursion will be a tram or interurban tour in Rome on Thursday, May 24.

We plan on chartering historic equipment (where available) or utilizing service trams and trains in Torino (5/11, 5/12), Milano (5/13, 5/15), Lake Como (5/14), Bolzano (5/16), Trento (5/17), Trieste (5/19), Firenze (5/21), Rome (5/22, 5/24) and Naples (5/23). Extra time for sightseeing will be provided in Venice on May 18 and May 20 and Florence on May 21, and a Pompeii excursion will be available for those who might want an alternative to the Naples tram tour on May 23. Additional days are available before and after the tour and additional time is particularly recommended in Rome for the many historic sightseeing opportunities that are available in the eternal city.

Our tour covers large portions of Northern and Southern Italy. We will be staying in hotels in Torino, Milano, Bolzano, Venezia Mestre, Firenze and Rome. Hotels were carefully chosen to provide a blend of comfort and convenience, with locations for the most part being walking distance from intercity rail stations. We will see a lot of Italy during our daytime travels in first-class intercity rail accommodations.
