The N.Y. Division of the ERA is pleased to announce a visit to MTA NY City Transit’s Corona Shop in Flushing, Queens, on Sunday, October 22, 2006. This complex was just recently completed for maintenance of the R-62A cars used on the #7 Flushing line. As an added bonus, our visit to the Corona Shops will be followed by a tour and visit to the Casey Stengel Bus Depot next door.
All attendees will meet at the token booth on the mezzanine level of the Willets Point, Shea Stadium station on the #7 Flushing line. You must be at that location no later than 10:00 AM that morning. The station can be most easily reached by taking the #7 train to Willets Point, Shea Stadium. Long Island Railroad and Q48 bus service is also available nearby. Driving there is not recommended, as availability of parking is unknown. In anticipation of the need for security clearance for all attendees, please make certain to have a photo ID in your possession.
It is expected that the visits and tours will last approximately two hours. Representatives from MTA New York City Transit will be our hosts to point out interesting features of the shop and the bus depot. We will try to obtain clearance to take photos during these visits.
Join us for a very special visit and tour of this recently rebuilt maintenance facility, and get a bonus visit to the bus depot that is home to NYCT’s only New Flyer Viking coaches. The ticket price for the visit and tour is only $15. For further updates and information, please call 718-784-3643 evenings. This visit and tour operates rain or shine.
