Our June Zoom program, Kristen & Paul’s Excellent Adventures: Trains, Trolleys, Tunnels and Tires, will be presented by Kristen Fredriksen of the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum and ERA board member Paul Grether. They will be showcasing travels in the United States and the United Kingdom focusing on all things new, old, preserved, abandoned, obscure or otherwise interesting.

Kristen Fredriksen began her museum career at the Southeastern Railway Museum outside of Atlanta. After several years there and at the Delta Flight Museum, she now works in Pittsburgh as the assistant manager of visitor experience at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum. Kristen is fond of people movers, personal rapid transit, and other uncommon forms of transportation. Her formal education is in the field of language studies — she has a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in linguistics from the University of Georgia.

Paul Grether has 17 years of experience in the transit and passenger railroad industry. His current responsibilities involve the rail activation of a large commuter rail extension and terminal station project for a major North American commuter railroad. Previously Paul managed the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (Cincinnati Metro) bus operations, planning department, start-up of the Cincinnati Streetcar, and railroad holdings. Paul started his transit career at the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) in various functions including FTA program management, planning, bus and rail operations, and program management of the Atlanta Streetcar. Paul is the immediate past chair of the American Public Transportation Association Streetcar Subcommittee. Paul is a graduate of Georgia Tech with an undergraduate degree in industrial management and a graduate degree in city and regional planning/civil engineering.
