This month’s Zoom presenter is Russ Jackson, ERA #1859. Russ’s storied career includes being a major contributor to getting the PATCO line into operation in 1969 as a consultant employee, 20 years working for major transit consultants, and 17 years working for SEPTA as manager of new car engineering, retiring in 2010. When Kodak came out with Super 8 sound cameras and film in 1973, Russ immediately started making use of them. Russ’ all-video Zoom program will start with ‘First Generation Subway Cars’ and then Lackawanna, Pennsylvania Railroad, and Reading ‘First Generation MU Cars’ in service in the 1970s, all from digitized track-side films. If time permits, Russ will finish with some shots on the Northeast Corridor and New Jersey Transit from the 1970s. Russ, a PCC devotee, runs the website www.tractionresource.com. This is an extra-special program not to be missed!
